K-pak Reconst Rx Capor Iron Review

I purchased this product from a different company back in July of this year. I have used it only about 4 times. Last week (9/30/2010), I decided to use it again. About 30 seconds after turning the unit on, there was a FLASH and a *POP* and that was the end of this very expensive flat iron. I can only say that I'm thankful that I wasn't holding it when it decided to short out.
In reviewing Joico's warranty, they do have a 12-month limited warranty, BUT in order to have it repaired and returned to you they want $15 for shipping and handling. EXCUSE ME?
My stylist also has this iron, in fact, it is because of her that I purchased mine. Her iron was in use continuously for 2-weeks and then the on/off switch stopped working. I suspect the same thing occurred.
It does do a beautiful job on the hair, BUT, its shoddy quality and electrical issues aren't worth the money.
